about this space

Hello and welcome to Interwovxn!

This space is for exploring the ways we expand ourselves to interweave all of the parts that are in the middle chapters of our journeys as women (inclusive of anyone who identifies as a woman, transgender, gender-fluid, or non-binary).

This is an age of multiple roles, new health matters and realities, and an evolving self-awareness. We are aging. Our bodies are changing. Our identities are shifting. We are facing closing chapters - be it fertility or loss. We are at the doorway of perimenopause and menopause and caring for aging parents while perhaps also raising young children (during a pandemic). Studies show that many women feel more under-supported than ever - we want to change that… we need to change that.

Let’s find ways to adapt to these converging stages of womanhood and thrive in the chaos. With this space, we want to share and discuss the things that make a woman’s middle life rich and textured (and sometimes a little bumpy). Let’s interweave our past with our present with our goals for the future. Let’s create legacy in storytelling- your life enriches our lives.

I value relationships and connection in this life and have had the privilege of working with women for over 15 years on their personal journeys. As a board-certified women’s health acupuncturist and herbalist, I have been witness to the beauty and challenges that present themselves at the various stages of being a woman. Within our walls, women have the space to share their frustrations and dreams, their expectations and perceived shortcomings, and the ways in which their body or their community have left them feeling empowered or unsupported.

I hold all of these stories and with them this amazing circle of women. Within them, I see my own struggles and triumphs- my journey with infertility, becoming a mother at 40 (yep, I am one of those “geriatric” ones;), grieving the birth and breastfeeding relationship I thought I would have, mothering during a pandemic, struggling to figure out who I am now outside of (and within) all of that while realizing that what I have been calling “postpartum” symptoms are quite clearly (4 years later) the reality of my trip through perimenopause.

My daughter asks me what I want to be when I grow up and my answer is always an artist. Whether with acupuncture needles, a camera, food, or creating community, I adore connecting the dots and parts to make a whole. With this project, we hope to do just that- take all of the beauty and challenges and give them a space. A space to listen, to cheer, to learn, to laugh, to trust, and to grow in all things middle life. I look forward to seeing what we can create together!! ~Rebecca (she/her) @rebecca.jankowski

In my former life, I worked tirelessly in startup businesses (with the energy of youth and a total lack of balance), until that life became unsustainable and the wheels came off. Blessed with mentors and guides who created space for me and opened my eyes to the possibilities, I realized this life is for the taking; that by understanding myself I can make it my own and discover my joy. I pulled a 180 into focusing on individual support, which is where my heart truly was all along, and built a life with room for my continuing evolution.

A whim to train in Reiki led to a love for the practice and deeper connections with the people who led me to my next steps. I was introduced to the role of a birth doula and subsequently experienced the birth of my daughter and the ensuing postpartum phase and found my true home. Supporting women in the postpartum period and on their own unique path to becoming (a mother) has been a gift to my own evolution and being; and in creating compassionate space and discussion, Interwovxn took root. Every time I took a step the next stone in my path appeared and continues to do so.

I am eternally curious and live in constant awe of this life and our experiences in it. I am an advocate for self-care, believing that compassion and understanding for ourselves will manifest outward. We all play an important role in creating positive, healthy communities and we can truly be effective when we feel our best. I love being a part of the ripple effect! ~Theresa (she/her)

Community & Ally/Mentorship

"Solidarity is not the same as support. To experience solidarity, we must have a community of interests, shared beliefs, and goals around which to unite, to build sisterhood. Support can be occasional. It can be given and just as easily withdrawn. Solidarity requires sustained, ongoing commitment."
